The Lumberton Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. was chartered on May 5, 1991 with fifteen charter members. Lumberton Alumnae is currently composed of 27 members encompassing careers in education, medicine, mental health, social work, banking, business and law. The chapter service area is Robeson County. Since the Charter, Lumberton Alumnae has worked to enhance the quality of life in rural Robeson County. The chapter has awarded several scholarships, conducted health fairs, served as Santa’s Helpers for the Robeson County Group Home, and presents a bi-annual Jabberwock. Lumberton Alumnae Chapter is dedicated to Delta Sigma Theta’s national mission.

The Lumberton Alumnae Chapter’s mission has and will continue to be to serve and enhance the lives of Robesonians. Throughout the years the chapter has partnered with various community-based organizations who share our goals and objectives of public service. Lumberton Alumnaes superb leadership began with Charter President Phostina McCrae and were succeeded by A. Louise Lassiter (1993-1994); Wanda Dockery (1997-1999(; R. Cheryl T. Powell (1999-2001); Erica McComb (2001-2004); Paulette Baldwin (2004-2008); Leslie Tukes (2008-2010) and Carolyn Floyd-Robinson (2010 – Present).
